This post is all about the various types of gutter styles and what to choose for your new gutter system. Let’s start with shapes. There are two basic types, and they’re referred to by the shape of their cross section. Both types come in 5- and 6-inch widths. #1 K Style Gutter SystemThe K Style are probably the most popular gutters in the market today. In General K-style gutters have twice the capacity of their half-round cousins of the same width. # 2 Half Round GuttersHalf-round gutters are exactly what the name suggests: half-round tubes. Half-round gutters often are found on older, historic homes. Gutter MaterialsResidential gutters are made from various metals, including: Aluminum
Cost of pro install (materials and labor): $4 to $9 per linear foot Copper
Seamless Aluminum Seamless (or continuous) gutters are made at the job site. A truck with a spool of flat aluminum pulls up to your home, and the fabricator uses a gutter-forming machine to custom make whatever gutter length is required. There’s no hauling of long gutters. About 70% of all gutter installations are the seamless type. Installing seamless gutters:
Steel
Cost of pro install (materials and labor): $8 to $10 per linear foot Vinyl
Cost of pro install (materials and labor): $3 to $5 per linear foot Zinc
DownspoutsDownspouts come as either round or square, in widths from 3 to 6 inches. The most common sizes are rectangular:
The size and number of downspouts you’ll need depends on the capacity of your system. Rule of thumb: You need one downspout for about every 30 to 40 linear feet of gutter. To increase the capacity of your gutter system, add more downspouts.

So I was on the internet surfing around about Langford, and to my surprise we are actually on Wikipedia.
This was a shock. It said the city was only incorporated in 1992. Here are some other interesting facts. 1. It was home to Captain Edward Langford, established by Hudsons Bay and settled around 1851. 2. It was once a booming settelment for the short lived gold rush in the 1800's. 3. Hunters would find the lakes and mountains heaven for getting away from the socialized Victoria. 4. It is the fastest growing city on Vancouver Island. And only became a city in 2003. The motto of Langford is Golden In Setting Determined In Spirit. 5. Regarding demographics the community is estimated to be around 34,000 a boom since the 2006 census figures of 22,459. Its growth rate is around 5% per year expecting to double again by 2026. The median income is around $60,199. For me living in the westshore just made sense. I bought a housein 2014 and it was brand new with double the space and land over living in Victoria. I am super happy with the area i live in right near Thetis Lake. There are so many hiking trails around Westhills that one could hike every day of the week and do something different. Bear Mountain is so gorgeous also. With the spa and golf course, we love just to drive up there and enjoy the scenary of Langford and the 360 degree views of the whole city. Although its far to the airport and ferry terminal we have the pleasure of being closer to the Malhat and are able to escape the hustle of the city and get out to highlands if we so choose. Overall I love living in Langford and the Westshore. My business allows me to service my customers faster than my counterparts in Victoria. If you need your roof cleaned or gutters serviced please give us a call. Roof cleaning is not the most difficult trade to get into. As a result there a plethora of companies that say they are roof cleaners.
What happens is an unsuspecting homeowner says okay to their cheap prices, and ends up having to redo it 1 year later. We highly recommend if your going to higher a used Victoria chuck with a truck you at least inspect his work after he is done. Get up on the roof and see if there is any moss left. Do not pay him until the job is done. Also ensure that you call 3 references. This little question alone will probably turn into the man stalling and ditching the job as they don't even have 3 references. In addition this person does not have any WCB coverage nor a safety plan, and is therefore a liability to you on the job site. Protect yourself ask them for their WCB #. It is not difficult to get. As for us, well we offer a 2 year warranty. That tells you right there we are going to be around to service you if anything goes wrong. Call us we will do a great job for you. According to a recent article at professional
www.professionalroofing.net/Articles/Myth-busting--04-01-2010/1673 Homeowners need to weight the pros and cons of applying any coatings to their ashpalt shingles. The shingle is designed to allow water permeability, and putting any acrylic or latex could trap water beneath the shingle into the plywood sheathing and trusses causing thousands in damage. It is also critical to apply the coaiting properly. If there is any mold, mildew or algae on the shingle it should be cleaned with a bleach. The promotional material by the coating industry states the environmental benefits of the product, as it extends the life of the shingle and reduces landfill waste. But be warned your roof may be leaking and your family getting wet from the inability of these coatings to allow water to drain off your roof. Our advise, save the money and maintain your roof annually with our annual soft clean system. Call today 778-402-7445 |
